Die Mischung aus Villa und weißer Ritterburg, errichtet 1868 als Landhaus eines russischen „Gutsbesitzers“, wurde einst als Hotel genutzt. Schon damals gingen hier Künstler und Musiker ein und aus; so vollendete zum Beispiel Richard Wagner hier seine Oper Parsifal. Heute ist Schloss Balmoral eine Einrichtung der Stiftung Rheinland-Pfalz für Kultur, die Stipendiaten der bildenden Kunst aus der ganzen Welt als Wohn- und Arbeitsstätte dient. Regelmäßig finden hier Veranstaltungen und Ausstellungen statt.
The mixture of villa and white knight's castle, built in 1868 as the country house of a Russian "landowner", was once used as a hotel. Even back then, artists and musicians came and went here; Richard Wagner, for example, completed his opera Parsifal here. Today, Balmoral Castle is an institution of the Rhineland-Palatinate Foundation for Culture, which serves as a place to live and work for visual arts scholarship holders from all over the world. Events and exhibitions are regularly organised here.
