Als „Restaurant und Wohnzimmer“ bezeichnet sich das Markthaus am Wilhelmsplatz selber und das beschreibt es eigentlich schon ganz gut: Denn in der urigen, holzgetäfelten Gaststätte fühlen sich nicht nur Stammgäste wohl. Inhaber Eric Münch wünscht sich, dass auch Neuankömmlinge und Stadtbesucher:innen „zusammerutsche“. Die Speisekarte wechselt je nach Saison, wobei der Schwerpunkt auf hessischer Hausmannskost und regionalen Weinen liegt, etwa Weißwurst im Apfelweinsud mit Brezel oder Leberkäs mit Spiegelei und Kartoffelsalat zu dem lokal gekelterter Apfelwein getrunken wird. Wer Wert auf Nachhaltigkeit legt, findet eine gute Auswahl an Biofleischgerichten, außerdem stehen vegane Gerichte auf der Speisekarte und morgens wird leckeres Frühstück serviert. Unterhaltung gibt’s gratis dazu, zumindest an den Markttagen Dienstag, Freitag und Samstag. Dann setzt du dich am besten raus auf die Terrasse – wenn man so will, das Outdoor-Wohnzimmer des Lokals – und schaust den Händler*innen und ihren Kund*innen zu, die sich hier auf einem der schönsten Wochenmärkte im Rhein-Main-Gebiet begegnen.
