About: Herstall Tower, Herstallturm

Bis ins 20. Jahrhundert hatte Aschaffenburg innerhalb der Stadtmauer mehrere Stadttore. An einigen Stellen, wie z.B. im Park Schöntal, ist die Stadtmauer noch vorhanden. Die Stadttore sind bis auf das Sandtor und das Theoderichstor am Main verschwunden. Vom einst prachtvollen Herstalltor blieb nur noch ein Turm übrig: der Herstallturm zwischen Weißenburger- und Friedrichsstraße. Du kannst ihn zwar nicht besteigen, aber ein schönes Fotomotiv ist er allemal!

Until the 20th century, Aschaffenburg had several city gates within the city wall. In some places, such as in Schöntal Park, the city wall still exists. Apart from the Sand Gate and the Theoderich Gate on the Main, the city gates have disappeared. Only one tower remains of the once magnificent Herstalltor: the Herstallturm between Weißenburgerstraße and Friedrichsstraße. You can't climb it, but it's certainly a beautiful photo opportunity!
