Der Bau der Stadtmauer von Dausenau war vermutlich 1359 abgeschlossen, erstmals erwähnt wurde eine Stadtbefestigung aber schon 1324. Zur Stadtmauer gehörten 7 Türme und 7 Tore, Pforten und Durchlässe. Nur der Torturm am Ortsausgang in Richtung Bad Ems ist mit 18,36 m in voller Höhe erhalten. Der Schiefe Turm am ehemaligen Ortsausgang in Richtung Nassau ist erhalten, wurde aber 1950 um 7,5 m gekürzt, um zu verhindern, dass er sich weiter neigt und in sich dreht. Stümpfe der 5 weiteren Türme sind erhalten.
